Self-care and Community - Important on many levels
Our fast-paced lives and circumstances that seem out of control make it tempting to overlook the importance of self-care, and that can reflect negatively on our relationship with the community. Self-care and community work hand-in-hand and play a key role in our overall well-being and the health of the community in general, uplifting our spirits, providing encouragement, and fostering a sense of belonging and well-being.
Recently, I had the fantastic opportunity to take an Essentrics class in San Diego with my fellow Level 4 Essentrics instructor, Alane Costanzo. The experience was not only refreshing for my body but also rejuvenating for my soul. Observing her work with her community of students offered me valuable insight into my community of students in the San Fernando Valley. I so appreciated hearing their feedback about how much they loved her class. Sharing this class space with like-minded individuals passionate about movement created an electrifying atmosphere that was both uplifting and energizing. I left with a reinforced belief that Essentrics is profoundly impactful while being gentle and non-aggressive.
The current Wildfires in Los Angeles remind me that the need for self-care has become more vital than ever. When facing such crises, it's vital to remember that self-care must come first. Only when we nurture our well-being are we in a position to effectively reach out to others and offer others support. When we bring our self-care into a group situation, we create a space where we can learn from one another, share experiences, and grow as individuals; the essence of the community lies in prioritizing our self-care and supporting one another in our journeys.
I encourage you to actively invest in self-care as well as in the community, whether through group fitness classes, workshops, local gatherings or volunteerism. Together, we can inspire each other to thrive, making our self-care practices even more meaningful. Remember, we are stronger when we connect!
