Setting Expectations for the New Year: Achievable vs. Overreaching

As we approach 2025, I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year! If you want to set New Year's Resolutions to ensure a joyful year ahead, set achievable resolutions while maintaining a positive attitude. Instead of lofty goals that can lead to disappointment, let's focus on smaller, manageable milestones and embrace gratitude for what we have.

  • The Power of Smaller Goals

Rather than aiming for something like "losing 30 pounds," try a more attainable goal, such as "attending two Essentrics classes each week." This approach fosters regular movement and connects you with a supportive community. Use positive language when setting goals—focus on "gain," "begin," and "continue" instead of "loss" or "quit."

  • Create a Flexible Plan

Set actionable steps that boost your energy and well-being. If setbacks happen, take the opportunity to reassess your goals—persistence is key. Embrace Wabi-Sabi moments in life, finding beauty in imperfections and learning from challenges.

  • Celebrate Your Progress

Recognizing achievements, no matter how small, to help lift spirits. After a few weeks of reaching your goals, treat yourself and someone special—you've earned it!

  • Take it Step by Step

Whether your resolutions are about fitness, nutrition, or lifestyle, realistic goals make self-improvement enjoyable. Remember to approach your journey with the mindset of "Just Dance Into It."

This year, let's focus on resolutions that empower us to grow and succeed. I invite you to join our Essentrics community with Steven Gray in the San Fernando Valley and online via Zoom. Together, let's cultivate a positive environment to enhance our journey toward becoming our best selves. Cheers to a fulfilling New Year!
